When did you first realize that health and fitness were important to you?

About 2 years ago I was trying to run in a mini race with my 6-year-old and couldn’t keep up with him. I was cramping and completely out of breath; I almost couldn’t finish the run and it was less than a mile. 


When did you first start training at GWF?

May 28, 2016 was my first day of Fundamental training with Coach B


Favorite WOD

I most enjoy dead lifts(115 is my 1 rep max) and I can almost do strict pull ups( getting so close). I also enjoy pushing the sled. 


Least Favorite WOD

Anything pertaining to core workouts, dead bugs, ring fallouts, thrusters, and burpees.


Tell us about your sports & fitness background.

I danced in HS and College and took a weight lifting class in college. I was never really a sports person and worked out off and on.


How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?

I was invited to a “Bring a Friend Day” in April of 2016 by a coworker. I remember being very intimidated and thought that I would never be able to do Crossfit, especially at my age. Once I met with Coach and some of the other members, I thought to myself that I could do this. It was very challenging for me just to get the proper techniques down, I really have a hard time with coordination. I loved how I felt afterward, though. I just needed to figure out how I would work it into my schedule but at that point, I knew I would join. 


What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting at Gut wrench Fitness ? (before / after)

Before I was extremely tired all of the time because I sit at a computer 8 hrs a day. I was very unhappy with my self image and knew that I desired change. I really didn’t have any muscle tone and I had a little muffin top, which was not sexy at all. 

After I can honestly say that I have a lot of energy, I’m much more emotionally stable, I can handle stress more productively, and I now have this confidence and inner warrior spirit that I really never had before.  I am starting to see more muscle tone in my back, arms, abs and I generally just feel better. I also proved to myself that I can be a morning person and be consistent. 

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit  that were totally unexpected?

 Developing a sense of fearlessness and willingness to step out of my comfort zone

What would be your advice for people just getting started?

Don’t expect everything to change all at once, it’s definitely a journey. You will get stronger in every area of your life the more consistent you are. Give yourself time to learn the proper techniques before you add weight. Don’t compare your progress to your peers, everyone has a different body composition.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?

I love spending time with my children and husband, cooking, DYI projects, scrapbooking, crafting, volunteering, hiking, and one day I would like to do a Spartan race.
